Hard Rock Hotel and Casino Donates $2500 to Salvation Army

Today, the Hard Rock Hotel and Casino presented a $2500 check to the Mississippi Gulf Coast Salvation Army.
This comes two weeks after the Salvation Army reached out for help in lieu of their dwindling food pantry. The food pantry was in danger of shutting down, but since the call for help, they have seen an outpouring of support and donations.
The Hard Rock Hotel and Casino tells News 25 it’s important to give back. Maria Johnson, with the Hard Rock, said, “Every time there is a catastrophe on this coast, not just here but our neighbors as well, they are willing to pack up in a moment’s notice, they will go up and help tornado victims in North Mississippi, they’ll go to Alabama, they’ll go to Louisiana… But again because their profile is so low that they don’t have the opportunity to go out and solicit donations and I felt like this was a perfect opportunity to help them out.”
The Salvation Army tells News 25 the $25,000 will help feed about 45 families for a week.
