Happy National Pet Day

Whether they are four-legged or two, furry or have scales, today America celebrated National Pet Day.
Animal lovers posted pictures on social media with the hashtag #nationalpetday to share their love for their pets. A representative from the Jackson County Animal Shelter tells News 25 adopting a pet makes the bond even closer with the owner because you may be saving a dog or cat’s life and they will return the favor with unconditional love. Maridee Mallette with the Jackson County Animal Shelter said, “They’re like little humans. They feel everything you feel, they feel sadness, they feel happiness, anger. They feel everything. Like I said, they’re excited when you come home, it’s not just for food, it’s for your attention. When you come through the door they’re like ‘oh my gosh, momma’s home, daddy’s home.’ You know, it’s the best thing ever.”
At 1 p.m. this afternoon, over 65,000 tweets had been sent out about National Pet Day.
