Hancock County Sheriff investigating shooting in Bayside Park

Hancock County Sheriff’s Office has identified a suspect wanted in connection with a Wednesday evening shooting that left one man injured.

The shooting occurred about 6:45 p.m. on West Holmes Street in Bayside Park.

Deputies on Wednesday night were searching for a person who witnesses say fired at least two shots. The victim, a 38-year-old man, was shot once. He was airlifted to a New Orleans hospital. He is stable.

Chief Deputy Jeremy Skinner said in a press release that Cody Joseph Necaise is wanted in connection with the shooting. he was last seen fleeing the scene of the shooting on a bicycle.

At one point, deputies believed that the suspect was hiding in a house on West Issaquena Street and fired tear gas into the home, according to media reports.

The search continued into the night.
