Hancock County School District closes two more schools

Hancock County School District announced over the weekend that two more schools in the district will be closing.

East Hancock Elementary and Hancock Middle schools will be closed for 14 days due to a COVID outbreak. This comes after closing South Hancock Elementary and Hancock High School last week.

Administrators, teachers and staff will report to work each day to ensure that learning will continue while students are home.  Parents will be contacted in the days to come with more information about distance learning.

Grab and go lunches will be available at two locations – South Hancock Elementary and East Hancock Elementary, from 10:30am to 11:30am.  Students from any of the districts closed locations, or quarantined from schools that remain open in the district, may pick up lunches at one of the two locations.

We know how important in-person learning is for our students,  however, the safety of our students and employees is utmost importance to us.  After the 14- day closure, our hope is that we will be able to get back to safe in person learning.
