Hancock Bank Celebrates Katrina Recovery

Nearly two months after Katrina, Hancock Bank hosted their first post-storm Coast Chamber “After Hours” networking meeting.
The roof of the Hancock Bank in Gulfport had been ripped away by the storm and representatives did not know how they would recover. They held their first meeting on the ground under a tent to figure out where they would take their next step in recovery.
Today, the bank is stronger than ever and tonight they celebrated the past ten years of recovery. Former Hancock Bank CEO George Schloegel says tonight is about moving forward. “The best thing about Katrina is we quit talking about Camille. So, we need to bury this storm and get on with life and quit worrying about the past. We need to be ready for the next one but right now, we need to get on with the reality of life and says ‘let’s put this past ten years behind us and let’s look forward to the future with a lot of optimism.’”
The Mississippi Gulf Coast Chamber of Commerce CEO Kimberly Nastasi was the guest speaker along with Hancock Bank President and CEO John Hairston.
