Habitat for Humanity Women Build 2020 wall signing

Today, the Habitat for Humanity of the Mississippi Gulf Coast’s Women Build kicked off going virtual with a wall signing event.

Because of the pandemic, the house on 2710 Dolphin Drive in Gautier is being built without the help of volunteers. However, about $69,000 was pledged for the creation of this home.

Over 30 teams of women and a few men pledged their support back in March and even though teams weren’t able to help build the house, they set the foundation by signing the studs and walls with uplifting messages to show their support. Director of Resource Development Lindsay Avery said, “Just because we cannot have volunteers, our mission can’t stop so we had to move forward with the construction of the home and we invited all of the participants out in blocks of time to come check out the progress and they get to leave their love on the house. They are signing walls. They are leaving little blessings, including some biblical passages. It’s just a nice way to be a part of the house during a COVID time.”

The event will continue until tomorrow at the site of the home in Gautier.
