H.S.S.M. Opens New Thrift Store, the Barking Basement
The Biloxi Bay Chamber hosted the ribbon cutting for the Barking Basement Friday morning at its location on Washington Avenue in Ocean Springs. The Humane Society’s thrift store at the Gulfport facility has been very successful, which is what led them to opening a second location, with hopes to raise even more funds for the care of homeless pets.
Shelli Skiados, Community Engagement Manager for the Humane Society, says, “It’s a great way for people to give back to the animals. Not everyone can come in and write a huge check and that’s okay, but there are other ways to support, cleaning out your closets, cleaning out your garages, things like that, donating those items, and we can resell them into our community at a lower price.”
Saturday, the Humane Society will host a grand opening celebration from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. The event will feature adoptable pets from the Jackson County Animal Shelter and 25% off your entire Barking Basement purchase.
