Gulfport woman dies in early morning house fire
A 50-year-old Gulfport woman is dead after a kitchen fire broke out in her home this morning.
Gulfport Fire Chief Mike Beyerstedt said the fire started from food left cooking on the stove. Firefighters found Sandra Beverly unresponsive in her bedroom early this morning after responding to a neighbor’s report around 1:30 a.m. of fire in the 1900 block of 42nd Avenue.
American Medical Response took Beverly to Memorial Hospital in Gulfport where she was later pronounced dead. Chief Beyerstedt says that all signs point to smoke inhalation being the cause of death.
News 25 spoke to Archester Beverly, her husband, who was not home when the fire started. “She was just, she loved people, children. She was just a good-hearted woman. I thank God that he gave her to me. Today, she is not in my life living here on this earth, but everybody loved her.”
