Gulfport teen charged with aggravated assault in shooting case

A 17-year-old has been charged with aggravated assault after shooting into a vehicle and injuring someone.

Jermiah Isdro Smith was arrested Monday and was taken to Harrison County jail. His bond was set at $200,000.

Gulfport Police said officers responded to a call Sunday of a gun being shot in the area of Klein Road and North Kern Drive. While en route, officers also were notified that a gunshot victim had been taken to a local hospital.

Detectives reviewed video that showed the suspect firing an automatic rifle in the roadway, where it struck a victim and the vehicle.

Gulfport Police ask that anyone with information about this incident — or the whereabouts of Royce Barthelemy — is asked to call them at 228-868-5959 or Mississippi Coast Crime Stoppers at 877-787-5898.
