Gulfport shooting victim reportedly passes away

According to her son, Sierra Jefferson, the woman shot by her husband outside of a clinic in Gulfport on Monday has died.
Jerome Jefferson, the alleged shooter, is currently being held on a one million dollar bond. Authorities have upgraded his charges from attempted murder to first degree murder.
At the time of her passing, Sierra Jefferson was receiving treatment for her injuries at a Mobile hospital.
Officials say the shooting stemmed from a family dispute. Sgt. Joshua Bromen with the Gulfport Police Department said, “Domestic violence is unfortunately nothing that we’re new to, as an agency and a society. It’s unfortunate. And again, if you know anyone a part of a domestic violence situation or has these issues, give us a call. There’s a lot of networking and resources here on the Coast through the Coast Nonviolence Center. Don’t take these threats or these statements lightly.”
The 24-7 hotline for the Gulf Coast Women’s Center for Nonviolence is 228-435-1968.
