Gulfport Rotary Walk 2018

Today the Gulfport Rotary Club held its annual 10K walk/run fundraiser. This year, two groups symbolically came together to support the police and firemen of Gulfport.

The rotary walk had two starting points: one in Pass Christian and one in Biloxi with both ending in the middle at Jones Park.

Past walks have benefited Extra Table Foodbank and CASA. This year, the money will go to foundations that assist firemen and police who are injured in the line of duty. Gulfport Rotary Club President Brent Johnson said, “They put their lives on the line for us in the community and the citizens every day. So, this year, we just wanted to find a way to give back and those funds help injured fire, police, and those families that need it. We just felt like it was real important to give back to our community. We are the Gulfport Rotary Club so again it just helps our presence and standing in the community as well.”

The rotary club averages anywhere from 100 to 150 participants for this fundraiser each year.
