Gulfport Receives National Recognition for Efforts in Helping Children Read

Gulfport is receiving national recognition for the community’s effort to help our children read.
Today at the Gulfport City Council meeting, the “Campaign for Grade Level Reading” presented the city with a “Pacesetter Award” for making progress on third grade reading by improving school readiness for children under the age of five. 160 communities across the county were considered for the award and Gulfport is one of 30 being recognized.
The award shows that the community as a whole is making a push to ensure preschoolers are ready for kindergarten.
