Gulfport Police searching for “armed and dangerous” 17-year-old suspect in connection to Wednesday night shooting

GULFPORT, Miss. (WXXV) — Police are searching for a 17-year-old suspect in connection to a shooting that took place late Wednesday night.

Gulfport Police say officers responded to a local hospital at approximately 11:30 p.m. Wednesday night after a receiving a report of a teenage male suffering from a gunshot wound.

After their initial investigation, detectives discovered the suspect, a 17-year-old male, identified as Robert Devon Cherry, shot at a vehicle with multiple occupants, striking one person.

The victim is currently listed in stable condition.

Cherry is described as a 17-year-old Black male, with black hair and brown eyes. He is approximately 5-feet, 9-inches tall and weighs about 150 pounds.

Police say Cherry was in possession of a firearm and should be considered armed and dangerous.

Cherry is being charged with six counts of Aggravated Assault and his bond was set at $600,000.00.
