Gulfport police officers injured while working crash

Two Gulfport police officers are in stable condition.

According to Gulfport Police, at 8 this morning, two officers were working a single vehicle crash on I-10 westbound near mile marker 35.

At about 8:40, a white Honda Pilot was traveling in the left lane when the driver struck the two officers and one of their motorcycles. A third officer witnessed it and called it in.

Police shut down the interstate west of the Cowan-Lorraine Exit while they cleared the scene. They were both taken to area hospitals for observation and are said to be in stable condition and alert.

Biloxi Police Department took over the investigation as well. Lt. Josh Bromen said, “This is our second and third officer that have been struck in less than a week here on the Coast investigating crashes and so again, we say it a lot, move over, slow down. It is the law, but there is a reason behind that law and there is a reason we stress it because this could have been a lot worse.”

No charges have been filed at this time against the driver and News 25 will continue to update you as we get more information into this investigation.
