Gulfport Orange Grove Rotary presents Christmas for Kids

The Gulfport-Orange Rotary Club partnered up with the Harrison County School District to select 100 children for their annual ‘Christmas for Kids’ event.

This year marked the 31st annual Rotary Club Christmas for Kids project. Santa is still making his rounds through the Gulf Coast.

One hundred children from different schools were each given $80 to buy clothing, school supplies and a toy they wish to have for Christmas.

Typically, the children selected get a chance to shop inside the store and pick what they want, however, this year they sent over a virtual wish list.

As parents and children picked up their gifts, some made thank you letters to the Rotary Club for the early Christmas presents. Walmart Store Manager Kevin Gaines said, “I want to give a thanks to all of our community sponsors that made this event happen. Although, we as Rotarians are hosting this event, none of this would have been possible without the help of the community. This is the 31st version of this event and it’s going to go on for another 30 years to come. The Rotary Club of Orange Grove has been around for more than 30 years and we plan on doing this year over year and we will continue to do this to take care of our kids in the community.”

The Rotary Club received more donations this year than any other year and would like to thank the community for making this possible.
