Gulfport Museum of History looking for volunteers

It’s been a long time coming for the historical society of Gulfport as the grand opening of the Gulfport Museum of History will take place in March.

The museum will have numerous artifacts, documents, and pictures that represent the history of Gulfport.

Now, the society needs your help with volunteers and staffing for the museum which will be open four days a week in March then five days a week starting in May.

If you’re interested, it’s a great way to learn about the city’s history while also assisting tourists and residents who come to explore the museum. Pat Pennell with the Historical Society of Gulfport said, “Needing two people at each shift is going to take a few people. We welcome everyone. If staffing is not your bag then we have other opportunities in hospitality, communication, archiving, just numerous things.”

The society is already gearing up for the grand opening with shirts on sale. If you have any questions regarding the museum you can contact the historical society at
