Gulfport man arrested for sexual assault of 17-year-old girl, police say
GULFPORT, Miss. (WXXV) — One man is behind bars for sexual assault of a 17-year-old girl, according to authorities.
Sheriff Troy Peterson announced the arrest of 35-year-old Nickolas Dewayne Shults of Gulfport on a felony charge of Sexual Battery.
According to Sheriff Troy Peterson, the parents of the 17-year-old victim reported the assault to deputies with the Harrison County Sheriffs Office.
The victim stated to investigators that a close family friend, identified as Nickolas Shults, had sexually assaulted her.
Investigators determined that Shults was responsible for the sexual assault and obtained an arrest warrant.
Investigators arrested Shults at his residence without incident and transported him to the Harrison County Adult Detention Center.
Nickolas Shults was was booked and charged with Sexual Assault. He is being held on a $200,000.00 dollar bond set by Justice Court Judge Melvin Ray.
