Gulfport High Students Visit WWII Museum in New Orleans

Monday, a group of Gulfport High School students took a special trip to the Big Easy.

One hundred and sixty six Gulfport High juniors loaded onto four charter buses Monday morning and headed to the WWII Museum in New Orleans. The trip was paid for entirely by a $10,000 grant from the Gulf Coast Community Foundation and the Hannah Hatfield Fund.

Lisa Schonewitz, Donor Relations for the Gulf Coast Community Foundation, says, “The Hannah Hatfield Fund was established as a permanent fund with the Gulf Coast Community Foundation to honor Ms. Hannah Hatfield. During her lifetime, she contributed many hours to volunteering with the Gulfport School District. The fund was established in her memory.”

The fund was established by Hatfield’s children to ensure that all children receive an excellent education in Gulfport schools.
