Gulfport High Students Receive New CPR Kits

Gulfport High School students received the gift of life this morning thanks to Butch Oustalet Autoplex.
The company donated funding to help train potential lifesavers with brand new CPR in Schools training kit. The kits include an instructional video, a facilitator’s guide, mannequins and a mannequin pump, knee pads, replacement parts and sanitizer.
Roy Anderson III, who is the chairman of this year’s heart walk, tells News 25 these life skills are critical for young adults to learn. “It’s just very, very helpful and beneficial to have that kind of training and also just the education to start a healthy lifestyle, eating right, exercising. It’s just bringing awareness. It’s always good to start when you’re young as opposed to where it’s later in life when you might have heart disease.”
According to the American Heart Association, each hour 38 people nationally experience cardiac arrest outside of a hospital setting and nine out of ten will not survive.
