Gulfport High Fusion Team Receives Letter from Obama

Some students at Gulfport High School received a special letter from President Obama.

Gulfport High’s Team Fusion is a student robotics club that has a passion for engineering. Not only do they build robots, but they also get involved in public outreach programs and spread the knowledge of S.T.E.M. education to others on the Coast. In his letter, the President commended Team Fusion’s success and their reflection of the importance of S.T.E.M. education. He said the team’s accomplishments give him great hope for the future.

Cooper Kendricks, a Team Fusion member, says, "It means a lot to us to know that the President supports what we do down here on the Coast and in Mississippi, and to know that we are making a difference down here. It’s really a privilege to be at such a great high school and to know that what we learn in high school we can actually apply it to something."

Gulfport High teachers who oversee Team Fusion say that every student who has been a part of the team has graduated high school.
