Gulfport Harbor Farmer’s Market Officially Opened Today

There was plenty of food and fun as the Gulfport Harbor Farmer’s Market officially opened today.
Jones Park was packed with coast residents that came out to buy local. Everyone was treated to free samples from fruit and veggies to farm raised pork, all from right here on the Gulf Coast. There was also a cooking demonstration by Island View Casino and a live band.
Rusty Walker, President of the Gulfport City Council, said, “These are all producers, not wholesalers. These guys bring it fresh from their farm straight to Gulfport every Wednesday and Saturday. These guys are all the small businesses in the area. They’re all within an hour and a half drive. This is a facility we built after Katrina just for a farmer’s market.”
The Gulfport Harbor Farmers Market will be open on Wednesdays from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. and Saturdays from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m.
