Gulfport Girls Soccer: Kate Smith commits to Ole Miss

Gulfport girls soccer star Kate Smith still has a lot of time left on the pitch in high school and now she has even more time left in college.

On Sunday, Smith verbally committed to Ole Miss picking the Rebels over Mississippi State, Southern Miss, South Alabama, and Samford.

Smith tells News 25 that Ole Miss offered her on Thursday and even as a junior she has plenty of good reason to choose the Rebels so early in the recruitment process.

Not only is her dad a baseball legacy, her uncle played tennis at Ole Miss, and both of her grandfather’s played football.

Quite a year for the future Rebel, having led the Lady Admirals to their second ever state championship in February, en route to winning the 2020 USCA Player of the Year for Mississippi in July as just a sophomore.

So far this season, Smith already has 12 goals and four assists for the Lady Admirals.
