Gulfport Fire District Chief Mark Hilley dies from COVID-19

The community is mourning the loss of Gulfport Fire District Chief Mark Hilley.

Fifty-three-year-old Mark Hilley served as district chief for the Gulfport Fire Department and as battalion chief for Harrison County Fire.

Last night, 70 members of the Gulfport Fire Department, Harrison County Fire services, Gulfport Police, Harrison County Sheriff’s Department, and other agencies as well escorted Mark and his family from Memorial Hospital to Riemann’s Funeral Home.

District Chief Hilley has served as a first responder for over 20 years.

This loss is absolutely devastating to his departments. They’re asking the community to keep Chief Hilley’s family in their prayers as they try to get through this tragedy.
