Gulfport community gathers for Molly Lee Memorial Celebration

Just over a week after the passing of Gulfport High School student Molly Lee, the community came together to celebrate Molly’s life.

Despite the cold, family, friends, classmates, and community members gathered at Milner Stadium earlier this evening to remember the high school junior after her tragic passing in a car accident December 7th.

The memorial celebration put on by Gulfport High School’s Fellowship of Christian Athletes included speeches from Molly’s close friends and family and a performance of Molly’s favorite sideline routine from her teammates on the cheerleading team and the Gulfport band.

In the wake of her unexpected and far too early passing, Molly’s friends and family appreciates all of the community’s support throughout these trying times. Molly’s friend Hannah Necaise said, “Just to see a community come together like this is just showing what God can do. And it’s just so amazing to me that Molly brought everyone together just by her spirit and her kindness. We definitely are just trying to stick together to stay together for Molly. We’ve had our bad days and had our good days, but we just want to believe and comfort ourselves that Molly’s still by our side and she’s our guardian angel.”

Molly’s older brother Sam Lee said, “Just thanks to everybody for all of this. I mean this is helping out so much with the process and maybe for that person who might be at home grieving over something different, just to use this and see that God is for real. He’s up there. And if you’re grieving, He’s going to be there to pick you up.”

The Gulfport community continues to honor Molly with the motto ‘LLM’ ‘Live like Molly.’
