Gulf Coast Winter Classics is back

The Gulf Coast Winter Classics horse competition is back for its 22nd year at the Harrison County Fairgrounds.

This seven-week equestrian competition has riders from all over the country and even some from other countries. This event features the top rides competing in all age groups.

This event has an economic impact of around $40 million that is brought into the Mississippi Gulf Coast. Gulf Coast Classic Company President Bob Bell said, “They come down because they can keep competing all year. If they were up in Michigan and New Jersey, with the cold weather and ice and snow, they can’t compete in that. When they come down to the south they can and they love coming to Gulfport.”

The events officially begin on February 13th and will run until March 29th. Every Sunday at 2 p.m. is the grand prix event which organizers say is a huge highlight for spectators.

Admission is free to all of the winter classics events.
