Gulf Coast Veterans Day Parade

Veterans Day may not be until next week but this weekend you have the chance to honor those who have served a little early.
The 15th annual Gulf Coast Veterans Day Parade will be Saturday in downtown Gulfport. The parade will begin at 11 a.m. The starting point will be at the corner of Highway 49 and 19th Street. The parade is being held on Saturday so that parents have the opportunity to bring their kids with them.
Organizers tell News 25 they’ve seen the parade grow immensely over the years and it is something our veteran population always looks forward to. President of Gulf Coast Veterans Day Parade Inc., Dick Wilson said, “We have a great population of veterans and they like to go and be recognized. Personally, myself, I don’t think there’s anything better to celebrate than the veterans. With all the installations they have, that’s why we have so many veterans that have retired here.”
Following the parade will be a Red, White and Blue Festival in Jones Park until 2 p.m. with marching bands, motorcycle groups and local vendors.
