Gulf Coast Veterans Day Parade

Locals lined the streets of D’Iberville Saturday for an annual parade that honors our local veterans ahead of Veterans Day.

The 19th annual Gulf Coast Veterans Day Parade ran Saturday from D’Iberville City Hall on Auto Mall Parkway to the D’Iberville Town Green on Central Avenue.

Former U.S. Representative and Coast Guard Veteran Gene Taylor served as this year’s grand marshal and veterans, civic organizations, and local bands and ROTC units participated as well.

Parade Board President Mary Ellen Landry says the community reception is tremendous. “This is the year and the time when the families come out. The grandparents bring the lawn chairs, parents, grandchildren, flags, students. We do it on Saturday closest to the actual Veterans Day so that the children can go ahead and enjoy it on a Saturday.”

After the parade, the public enjoyed music, food, and military displays at the Red, White, and Blue Festival on the town green.
