Gulf Coast USO gets appreciation gift
Airport USOs provide a secure and comfortable getaway for men and women who are serving our country to rest when traveling.
The USO at the Gulfport-Biloxi International Airport and at the Naval Construction Battalion Center got a generous appreciation gift this morning. A one thousand dollar check was presented to the USO Gulf Coast from the Mississippi Gulf Coast Centurion Association.
Military, airport officials, and association members gathered inside the airport’s USO to celebrate the funding. Jonathan White with the Marine Corps was traveling through Gulfport-Biloxi Airport International. He said, “All of DOD can come and relax for hours at a time during layovers. These places are needed and very much appreciated.”
Kimberly Rasmussen with the Mississippi Gulf Coast Centurion Association said, “If they have to buy some more snacks or perhaps one of the pieces of furniture needs repair or a new television, it’s really up to them to use it however they see fit.”
The USO supplies food, beverage options, reading materials, and gaming at the airport. The center on the base serves as a home away from home for service members stationed on base.
