Gulf Coast Restoration Reserve Fund
It has been debated for years now where BP settlement dollars should be received. Here on the coast or across the entire Magnolia State?
Today, the Senate Appropriations Committee repeated their message that the funds be placed in a separate account for Coastal projects. The committee amended House Bill 1185 placing the Senate’s plan in the bill.
The proposal establishes a Gulf Coast Restoration Reserve Fund which would hold the money separate from general tax dollars.
The bill’s next stop is before the full Senate which has previously passed attempts to create this fund both earlier this year and in 2017.
