Gulf Coast Restoration Advisory Board meeting

The Gulf Coast Restoration Advisory Board is ready for the next step in regards to allocating BP oil spill funds to different projects on the Coast.

This comes after a meeting discussing the final vetting of all the applications submitted before the cutoff date back in August and reconsideration of certain applications.

Some of the projects include the Stone County School District and work within Hancock County.

The board ensures they have the best list to send to the state legislature for the next step. GCRF Advisory Board Chairman Ashley Edwards said, “Economic development, quality of life, workforce development, things that can ultimately make our Coast much more competitive economically. So, we have considered a number of very good projects. We tried to prioritize those and pick the best.”

The list of projects will go to the state legislature in January and they will make appropriations before the legislative session ends in May.
