Gulf Coast Rescue Mission rebuilds after fire

Two and a half years ago, the people over at the Gulf Coast Rescue Mission had a devastating fire. Now, they are finally rebuilding.

The fire burned down the Mission’s main building. Now, they are in phase one of rebuilding the main building and they will be adding another building as well.

Gulf Coast Rescue Mission Executive Director Tom Mims said none of this would be possible without the outpouring of support from the community. “After the fire people began coming immediately giving us clothing, bed furnishings, finances. We have been here since June of 1965 on the Mississippi Gulf Coast so people wanted to make sure the mission will be here for a lot longer.”

The new building will be home to the Mission’s thrift store and they hope to have it completed by spring or early summer.
