Gulf Coast Oyster Cook Off and Festival

It was all about oysters on the Biloxi Town Green on Saturday.

The fourth annual Gulf Coast Oyster Cook Off and Festival returned to Biloxi after being held in Gulfport last year.

Restaurants from across the Coast set up shop and prepared their oyster delicacies for festival-goers to enjoy.

Oyster dishes were also judged by a panel of judges who awarded prizes in multiple categories like house specialty, raw, and charbroil.

Glenn Mattina of Clear Vision Entertainment says the festival is all about celebrating the perseverance of the Coast’s seafood industry. “The oysters rebounded, that’s why we’re celebrating the oyster. You know, a lot of people were surprised we were going to be able to have enough oysters, much less enough for a festival. So Coast Foods come through for us very well and got the oysters we needed and they’re nice oysters, they’re big oysters, they’re very salty.”

The festival also featured numerous musical acts and local vendors.
