Gulf Coast Mental Health Center changes regions

The Harrison County Board of Supervisors approved a resolution this week requesting a change in region for the Gulf Coast Mental Health Center.

The board is allowing the mental health center to join the Pine Belt Mental Healthcare Resources Area.

Harrison County currently oversees the health center along with officials from Hancock and Stone counties.

The center will work with Pine Belt to ensure there is no interruption in services for those receiving care in the three counties.

Harrison County has appropriated $2.1 million in the fiscal year 2021 budget for the mental health facility.

Gulf Coast Mental Health Center will formally join the Pine Belt region February 1st.
