Gulf Coast Marathon Expo and packet pick up

Today, final preparations were made for the Gulf Coast Marathon as runners went to MGM Park for the expo and packet pick up.

Preparations have been in the works since Wednesday, tying up loose structures on certain venues for the race. Between 3,300 and 3,500 runners are expected to participate in the marathon. People are still signing up for the 5K race.

There is also a kids one mile run and a relay beer run taking place over the weekend. The marathon brings a lot of buzz and attraction to the Coast.

Tourists will have the opportunity to check out South Mississippi. Gulf Coast Marathon Co-founder Patrick Fellows said, “I mean, it’s special for me as I grew up and spent my childhood here. Seeing the Coast grow and being ready for an event like this is a big win, both for the tourism, but also for the local population that want a great event to run.”

The 5K race will kick off at 8 a.m. Saturday morning at Point Cadet in Biloxi.
