Gulf Coast Culture and Heritage Day
Members of Leadership Gulf Coast have a better idea of the area’s rich history of culture after activities in Biloxi.
It was a day devoted to the Coast’s culture and heritage, enjoyed by 38 people who were all part of a leadership class aiming to learn more about the people and heritage that makes up our Gulf Coast. Enjoying historic Slavonian pastries called pusharatas was just one stop for the day filled with tours, speakers, panels and lots of food reflecting the cultures found on the Coast.
Biloxi Mayor Andrew ‘FoFo’ Gilich tells News 25 the seafood industry is a major reason why many people settled here. “That was the need for labor that brought these immigrants to Biloxi and became the seafood capital of the world. That whole story is our story.”
This is just one of the eight one-day sessions Leadership Gulf Coast participates in.
