Gulf Coast Caregiver Conference
Alzheimer’s Mississippi is hosting their annual Gulf Coast Caregiver Conference at the Knight Nonprofit Center.
This helps keep caregivers and social workers up to date on advances when it comes to treating and caring for those with the disease. It provides practical information regarding Medicare and Medicaid law, clinical trials, and a program called “Art in Mind” which provides meaningful social engagement through art and it’s offered at Ohr-O’Keefe Museum of Art. Ohr-O’Keefe Museum of Art Assistant Director Carol Messer said, “Our patients have told us that it helps stimulate their memories. It has helped with their social engagement. When they come to the program it has helped their mood for the rest of the week.”
Anyone wanting more information or wanting to join the “Art in Mind” program can contact Alzheimer’s Mississippi or the Ohr-O’Keefe Museum of Art. Space is limited and is at no cost to the public.
