Gulf Coast Broadband Initiative

The city of D’iberville joins Biloxi and Gulfport in an effort to bring ultra-high speed internet service Coast wide.
Officials hope to get nine more cities on board as well. They are working to bring high speed broadband to the three coastal counties spanning from Waveland to Pascagoula.
There is no exact timeline for when the fiber optic cables will be laid but the city of D’iberville says that with a large infrastructure project already in progress, the sooner the better. City of Biloxi Chief Innovation and Development Officer F. Cliff Kirkland said, “In terms of a timeline, we don’t have one yet because we’re asking the state to take the $15 million the governor is offering for this project to give it to our Gulf Coast Broadband Initiative. We have to wait and get an answer from him. We can construct the ring, the backbone that will serve the whole Coast for that $15 million.”
