Gulf Coast Baptist Association helping with hurricane cleanup

Hurricane Zeta cleanup efforts continue on the Coast.

At the Gulf Coast Baptist Association, volunteers are coordinating disaster relief requests. Since the storm, the organization teams have helped out with debris cleanup, chainsaw work and more. Currently they are working on more than 200 requests for service.

Executive Director Dr. Steven Mooneyham says the help comes free  of charge, but warns of possible scammers looking to take advantage of those in need.

Mooneyham says those they help are grateful. “They’re overwhelmed. In the first place, they’re trying to grapple with what they have experienced. When we show up, what we do we without charge of any kind. They’re relieved because a lot of times folks try to take advantage of them in situations like this. When they find out southern Baptists are going to do this because of our love for Christ and our love for them, they’re often times moved to tears.”

Anyone in need of help can reach the organization at 228-832-4311.
