Guilty plea to 2014 murder

A Gulfport man has pled guilty to the 2014 murder of 41-year-old Lamont Hayes.
Twenty-two year-old Rashad Johnson pled guilty to first degree murder today, confessing that he and his co-defendant, Jalen Williams, went to the Hayes home to rob him. During the robbery, Hayes and Williams were in a physical struggle. Williams then slid Johnson a gun and told him to get Hayes off of him. Johnson testified he then shot Hayes twice.
Johnson was age 17 at the time of the murder and faces life in prison. His sentencing hearing is scheduled for May 1st.
Williams is set for trial March 20th.
