Ground Zero Museum in Waveland holds Hurricane Katrina Memorial Service
The Ground Zero Museum in Waveland is dedicated to the strength and beauty of the human spirit. A memorial service held there this morning remembered that purpose and to remember the lives lost when Hurricane Katrina roared through South Mississippi 17 years ago.
The service also served to express appreciation to the first responders and acknowledge the community’s courage and resilience. Ground Zero Hurricane Museum Director Linda Aiavolasiti said, “Courageous and resilient people down here. Everybody just jumped in to help everybody else, whether they knew you or not. We need to remember that and hopefully live the rest of our lives like that.”
The museum is a tribute to resilience and serves as a reminder of the power of the storms that threaten our home each year.
