Grant Me Hope: 13-year-old Lyric hoping to be adopted by family that will “accept her as their own”
Every Monday, WXXV features a child from Mississippi hoping to get adopted.
13-year-old Lyric has been in foster care for over two years. She would like to be with a family that is permanent and will accept her as their own.
Lyric:
“I’m 13 years old and I’m going to the 8th grade. I like to draw and I like to read and write and I am pretty easy to get along with.
“If I had to pick a mentor it would be my grandma because I really look up to her. She’s humble and she’s caring and loving and she’s just like the perfect role model for me.
“In my free time, I usually just I work on some of my animations. I draw and make characters or I write and make stories.
“If I would go on vacation I would probably go somewhere cold because I like cold climates the best and it’s perfect for blankets and hot chocolate and stuff.
“The greatest gift I’ve ever given to someone was just being myself and I give good advice to people. I mostly give advice because I don’t want anybody to like have go through what I go through. I won’t want nobody else to stay in the system for 8 or 9 years and see through all that and have to go home to home.
“Yeah, I’m actually afraid I won’t get adopted but I have a different thought process and I don’t think like others think I guess and that kind of makes it hard for me to communicate. I would like to be with a family that is permanent and that will accept me as their own. It doesn’t matter if they biological or not, really just as long as I have people that I can like get along to and talk and call my family.
“The most important things I want people to know about me is that I’m easy to get along with and that I’m open to everybody.”
