Grant to Combat Erosion and Drainage in Ocean Springs

The City of Ocean Springs has been battling erosion and drainage issues on Simon Boulevard.
The erosion has already reached an extent that is causing one resident to experience issues with his home’s foundation. He says the root systems of nearby trees and strategically placed bricks are currently all that holds his home in place.
The city has just received a grant for over $30,000 to combat problems with erosion and the drainage system in the city. Ocean Springs applied for this grant in 2010. Chic Cody with Ocean Springs Ward 3 said, “I believe that all the houses in that area could have been affected if we hadn’t been able to get that grant and correct the erosion control problem. This will stabilize that bank and limit the erosion in that area substantially.”
The grant was provided by the National Resource Conservation Service.
