Grant awarded to three Mississippi universities

William Carey University is one of three state university’s receiving a combined total of nearly $2 million in grant money.

The Mississippi Department of Education is allocating $1.7 million to William Carey, Delta State University, and Mississippi State University to help prepare and support effective new teachers in high-need school districts.

In 2018, the MDE received a $4.1 million grant from the W.K. Kellogg Foundation aimed at establishing residency programs.

Over the next three years, the teacher residency program is expected to support up to 35 new resident teachers from these universities to meet needs in four school districts.
