Grand opening for Singing River Gulfport

The Singing River Health System is celebrating the addition of another facility to service patients in the North Gulfport area.

Singing River Health System rolled out the red carpet for its newest care facility on the Coast. “It was a perfect fit. It was like it was meant to be.”

Representatives from Singing River and Ochsner Health cut the ribbon at the opening of Singing River Gulfport, a 130-bed hospital formerly known as Garden Park Medical Center.

The facility was acquired from HCA Healthcare and is run as part of a strategic partnership with Ochsner.

Singing River officials say their partnership with Ochsner allows them to bring new specialties and technology into Singing River Gulfport. Chief Medical Officer Dr. Randy Roth said, “First of all, we’ll have a cath lab open, so it will be Grade A cardiac services with our cath lab in January, and it’s going to bring some different specialties. Ochsner’s going to bring some specialties that would have required people to travel in the past.”

Singing River Gulfport now gives the two health systems a combined four hospitals on the Coast with an ‘A’ grade for hospital safety as designated by the Leapfrog Group, something that medical professionals say is key in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic. Orthopedic Surgeon Dr. Philip Myers said, “I have a lot of comfort knowing that my physician and healthcare provider colleagues are the best, and with the best standards come the best practitioners.”

While some things may stay the same, Singing River CEO Lee Bond says there will be more growth for the hospital in the months and years to come. “You look at what the opportunity is here in North Gulfport, and the foundation they’ve created, they already have a culture of service, and we look to expand that, so we think we’re going to grow it.”
