Grand Jury Indicts Murder Suspect

A grand jury indicts the Rankin County man accused of killing multiple people, wounding others, and stealing cars in Mississippi, New Mexico, and Kansas.
A Rankin County grand jury indicted Alex Deaton on charges of first-degree murder, auto theft, and drive by shooting.
He’s accused of strangling his girlfriend, stealing her car, and shooting a jogger back in February.
He’s also the suspect in the death of a woman who was cleaning a church in Neshoba County.
From there he drove to New Mexico where he allegedly carjacked a couple, fled to Kansas and shot a convenience store clerk.
Deaton now awaits a June third preliminary hearing in Pratt, Kansas where he’s expected to be tried first on charges of attempted murder, theft, robbery, and fleeing police.
