Grand Jury Clears Officers In Biloxi

A grand jury has ruled Biloxi police officers were justified in the fatal shooting of a man on the Popps Ferry Bridge back in March. According to Biloxi police, 37-year-old Wesley Sheppard had shot out a window in a vehicle with children and refused police orders to drop his weapon. Three officers fired from about 50 yards away, two of the bullets hitting Sheppard. Police later learned Sheppard’s weapon turned out to be a bb gun, although it looked like a long gun to witnesses and responding officers.
