Governor’s Cup rivalry between Ole Miss and MSU canceled for 2021
SEC baseball schedules rolling out earlier today and there’s one glaring omission for both Ole Miss and Mississippi State.
That’s a game against one another, better known as the Governor’s Cup, played annually at Trustmark Park in Pearl.
But not this season due to scheduling challenges related to COVID-19, actually making this the second year in a row the game won’t be played.
The in-state rivals will still play three times from April 16th through April 18th in Starkville and Mississippi State will still play Southern Miss on March 2nd at Trustmark Park.
Dating back to 1980, the Bulldogs have a four game series lead over the Rebels in neutral site games, having won the last four in a row.
