Governor Bryant Open to Lottery Talk

Bryant could be open to the possibility of a state lottery. In a written statement to the clarion ledger, Bryant says he would be willing to discuss it. Making him the first governor in nearly 30 years to say he might consider a lottery former governor. Ray Mabus pushed for a lottery back in 1990 and lost the next election. Governors since have said they would veto any lottery bill that passed the legislature. Bryant did note he wouldn’t want to dedicate funds to specific areas such a public education saying “Our children’s future should not be left to a game of chance.”
