Good Sport Grant helping start Biloxi Lacrosse Team

Girls lacrosse is coming to the City of Biloxi thanks to a grant award from Good Sport.

Good Sport is a nonprofit organization that connects not for profit sports teams with equipment. Middle school and high school aged girls in the greater Biloxi area will have an opportunity to play lacrosse.

The grant was previously awarded to Ocean Springs girls lacrosse which is the only girls lacrosse team in the state of Mississippi. To help recruit players for the new Biloxi team, Ocean Springs girls lacrosse will host a free clinic Saturday, August 28th from 9:30 a.m. until 10:30 a.m. at the Popp’s Ferry fields next to the community dog park. Ocean Springs Girls Lacrosse Head Coach Liz Elmore said, “Women sports is great for girls all ages, all levels, all abilities. They find that 96 percent of business women like CEOs, CFOs played a women’s sport and they played a team sport. So, team building and team bonding are great ways to perfect leadership skills and learn just how to work with one another in your community and I think that it’s a great thing for all girls to take with them. They are gaining friends and they are gaining some confidence on and off the field.”

Interested players are asked to dress in athletic clothes, bring water, and be ready to have fun.
