Good Samaritan Stabbed at Dollar General
Two men are behind bars after allegedly robbing a Dollar General and stabbing a Good Samaritan.
Twenty-two year-old Marces Rush is charged with felony armed robbery and aggravated assault. Sheriff Troy Peterson also announced the arrest of 25-year-old DeMarcus Leshore of Wiggins.
According to officials, Rush entered the Dollar General store on Canal Road in Gulfport armed with a knife and took an undisclosed amount of money after threatening the cashier. Rush exited the store and was confronted by a Good Samaritan who was trying to apprehend him. Rush stabbed the Good Samaritan several times and got into a vehicle driven by Leshore.
A witness followed the suspects from the scene until Harrison County Deputies and Gulfport Police were able to stop them on O’Neal Road. Rush is being held on a $500,000 bond.
Harrison County Sheriff Troy Peterson said, “We have evidence found from the robbery. He took the whole till so there is evidence on the roadway that we’re trying to recover, but right now we’re more worried about the citizen that tried to intervene.”
The Good Samaritan underwent surgery for his stab wounds and is now said to be in stable condition.
